Annual Hillsborough Hog Day
Hog Day, presented by The Herald-Sun and sponsored by the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce, officially
starts at 9 am on Saturday and runs until 7 pm. .
Organizers anticipate more than 150 vehicles in the Vintage and Antique Car Show. Sixteen classes American production
cars and trucks through 1974, special interest Fords and Chevys, street rods, custom and modified cars, vintage
foreign cars, tractors and hit and miss engines. Winners are announced at 3 PM.
The Family Fun and Children's area includes children's rides, games, dunking both, micro-reality stock car races;
the best-dressed pig contest, the Orange County Cooperative Extension Petting Pasture; the Carolina Raptor Center
Birds of Prey Show; Mark Cornelius' Amazing Animals (monkeys, lizards and groundhogs); Becky Lofland and her puppet
friend "Androgena;" Rainbow the Clown, Daddy Long Legs, and music and storytelling provided by Uncle
John & Mikey; and Bill Phillips.
Hog Day T-shirts, caps, pig hats, wooden figurines and special limited edition "Percy the Hillsborough Hog
Day" Puffkins (only 350 made) with Hog Day tags are available for purchase. Additional vendors will also be
selling food, drinks and other items. Also more than 100 arts and crafts booths featuring local garden art, weaving,
sculpture, woodwork, painting, jewelry and pottery will be on display.
To get to Hillsborough Hog Day, from I-85 take exit 164 or from I-40 take exit 261. Parking is limited in downtown
Hillsborough, so for your convenience the shuttles ($1) will run continuously from the Daniel Boone Village, the
Hillsborough Savings Bank and Central Carolina Bank parking areas. Shuttle pick up points are located just off
Churton Street near the I-85 overpass. Look for "shuttle parking" signs. Designated handicap parking
is available.
