Triangle Sportsplex: The area's only ice-skating rink, also used periodically
by the Carolina Hurricanes as a practice facility. It hosts children's league hockey games and puts on an annual
production of "The Nutcracker" during the holiday season..
The facility. is a full-service athletic club, with two large pools that host state-wide swimming competitions.
There is a full fine of exercise equipment, a staff of personal trainers, a large aerobics room, a child care facility,
a massage therapy area, and tanning booths. To entertain the younger set, there is a kiddy pool and a number of
youth-oriented activities, such as roller blade hockey games and summer camp programs.
The Blade and Fin Restaurant is a great place to relax after your work-out, and the Chamber of Commerce has set
up a computer station that the community may use to access the Internet and check on local events.
Town Park: The Chamber made donations initially to get Town Park built on the
banks of the Eno River, where it will continue to be a work in progress for the foreseeable future. Hog Day is
held here, and the local Native Americans who are constructing an authentic Occaneechi-Saponi village on this site
are using natural materials and construction techniques, which pretty much guarantees the ongoing nature of this
effort. The Chamber hopes to add a riverside walkway here in the next year or so.
Exchange Club Park: New playground equipment has been added adjacent to the picnic
area, and this is where the Exchange Club hosts its fish fries and club meetings in its community building. Located
off Orange Grove Road, several community baseball leagues take advantage of the large playing fields.
Occaneechi Mountain Park: boasts the highest elevation point this side of the
Carolina mountains. This wonderful walking trail winds across the ridges of the Eno River, up and around the mountain.
The Chamber has held a groundbreaking ceremony for an observation deck to be built on the mountain's highest point.
Fairview Park: Located in the western part of Hillsborough, this is an area with
playground equipment and basketball courts.
Efland Cheeks Park: Adjacent to the elementary school is a playground with picnic
areas and basketball courts, located in the northwestern part of the county.
HYAA (Hillsborough Youth Athletic Association): A nonprofit community organization
composed of volunteers who run children's baseball leagues in various facilities throughout the northern part of
the county. It also holds Bingo nights at Daniel Boone Village and other recreational activities for kids.
Orange County Parks & Recreation Department: A county agency that sponsors
basketball, baseball, and football teams.
Bike Routes: The Carolina Tarwheels and the Hospice Fun Run use trails that run
throughout the downtown historic district. These tracks are certified by Godiva Chocolate, one of the event's sponsors.
